In the third quarter of 2022, the top 5 Travel and Local apps in Africa showed varied performance in terms of weekly downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a detailed look at their trends based on data from Sensor Tower.

Google Earth saw a fluctuation in weekly downloads, peaking at roughly 91.5K in mid-August before declining to around 48.8K by the end of September. Weekly active users for the app remained relatively stable, starting at approximately 364K at the beginning of July and ending at about 358K by the end of September.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a consistent decline in weekly downloads, from around 45K at the end of June to about 30.6K by the end of September. Despite this, weekly active users remained robust, starting at approximately 607K and ending at around 575K.

Earth View 3D had a significant drop in weekly downloads, starting strong at around 37.1K at the end of June and plummeting to just 323 by the end of September. The app’s weekly active users also mirrored this trend, peaking at approximately 110K in mid-July but dropping to around 19.8K by the end of the quarter.

GPS Navigation Live Map Road showed a steady increase in weekly downloads, starting at around 12.8K at the end of June and reaching approximately 16.8K by the end of September. Active users also followed an upward trend, beginning with about 24.6K and ending at roughly 31.8K.

Weekly active users also grew, starting at about 64.5K and reaching around 79.8K. The app generated small but consistent revenue, peaking at around $31 in the week of August 22.
